Our multi-state collaborative theme for Summer Reading is COLOR OUR WORLD! Register for contests, events and of course PRIZES for all ages! Adults may check out to win one of 3 Grand Prizes - each including a $50 gift card! All ages are encouraged to participate in our Tiny Art Show. When you sign up for Summer Reading you will receive a 3 x 3 inch tiny canvas. Take this home and decorate it with any art materials or medium you choose. Return it by Friday, June 27th to be displayed in our Tiny Art Show. We will host a pottery event for adults on June12th. There will be lots of colorful contests and interactive displays around the library and online, too! Weekly Intergenerational programs, Preschool Story Times, School Age Activities, and Just4Teen events from June 9-July18. Pick up Summer Reading flyers for all the colorful details and paint our community brightly this year! View and Chew For the month of June, and in staying with the Summer Reading art theme, our View & Chew movie will be The Monuments Men starring: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett and John Goodman Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, about an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from German thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. The movie will be shown on Wednesday, June 18th with a start time of 6 pm at The Virginia Theater (119 N. Main St.). The theater doors will open at 5:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase. We look forward to seeing you there. Hands on Pottery Workshop On Wednesday, June 12th at 6 pm we welcome Andrew Steingass, a professional potter and teacher at Ohio Northern University. The first 30 people to sign up, starting at 5:30 pm, will have the chance to create a “masterpiece” in clay. Andrew will then take the items to be fired and returned the following week to be picked up. Book Chatters Book Chatters will be meeting this month on Tuesday, June 24th at 6:30 pm at the NB Historical Society. They will be discussing the title The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore. This gripping and meticulously researched narrative shines a light on the remarkable journey of Elizabeth Packard, a pioneering woman whose indomitable spirit challenged the confines of her time.
