Youth Painting Class Offered

Youth ages 7 to 16 are invited to participate in a painting class led by Awaking Minds on Thursday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. The program will be held in the Wolfe Community Room. Participants will create a colorful painting featuring a sea turtle and a beach scene while learning painting techniques in a fun and creative environment. The class is designed for youth of all skill levels and provides an opportunity to explore artistic expression. This program is generously sponsored by the Friends and Family of Marlene Rose.

View and Chew

Keeping with the prehistoric theme of summer reading, we will be showing the original “Jurassic Park.” This stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

An industrialist invites some experts to visit his theme park of cloned dinosaurs. After a power failure, the creatures run loose, putting everyone's lives, including his and his children's, in danger.

The movie will be shown on Thursday, June 18th, with a start time of 6 pm at The Virginia Theater (119 N. Main St.). The theater doors will open at 5:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase. We look forward to seeing you there.

Explore Ohio’s Ancient Past with Dr. Peg Yacobucci

Join Dr. Peg Yacobucci of Bowling Green State University’s School of Earth, Environment, and Society on Monday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Wolfe Community Room for a fascinating look at Ohio’s geologic past.

The program will explore Ohio’s ancient marine life during the Silurian and Devonian periods, long before the age of dinosaurs, and then journey forward to the Ice Age to learn about the large mammals that roamed the state more than 10,000 years ago.

Dr. Yacobucci will also bring local fossils for attendees to view and will help identify fossils that audience members are encouraged to bring from their own collections. This free program is open to the public.

Book Chatters

The June meeting will be on Tuesday, June 23rd at 6:30 pm in the Wolfe Community Room. We will be discussing Radium Girls by Kate Moore

the true story of young factory workers who became seriously ill after being exposed to radium while painting watch dials in the early 1900s. Their fight for justice against the companies responsible helped improve workplace safety standards and workers' rights across the United States.”

Stop by the Book Chatter’s display to see a selection of book choices for the year and pick up a copy of the list or visit the website to view/print your own list.
